Frank Bensel won his second Connecticut Open Wednesday on the strength of his consistency. Playing what he called "one of my favorite courses," the Danbury resident ruled the narrow fairways of Fairfield's Brooklawn Country Club in the final two rounds. After sputtering out of the gate on the first nine holes, Bensel shot at a 10-under pace on the final 45 to win the 77th open with an 8-under 205.
"I knew if I shot even today it probably wouldn't be enough," he said. "If you miss [the fairway] by 10 yards at this course, you're chipping out. You just have to hit your fairways and greens here."
Bensel made his move on the second day of the tournament, staking out a two-stroke lead with a three-under 68. Read More...

Albert Haynesworth traded to the New England Patriots
The Washington Redskins continue to clean their house of overpriced, underperforming players. A day after shipping quarterback Donovan McNabb to Minnesota, ESPN reports the team has traded mercurial defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to the New England Patriots.
In return, Washington gets a fifth-round pick in the 2013 draft.
Although Haynesworth was a misfit as a 3-4 nose tackle type after emerging as an elite 4-3 lineman in Tennessee, expect Bill Belichick to use him well in his three-man front rotation.

Albert Haynesworth’s 10 worst Redskins moments
It’s hard to believe that Albert Haynesworth’s Redskins tenure will wind up including just two seasons, and just 32 games. Well, 20 games, technically, since he missed four his first season and eight his next.
And yet, for only suiting up 20 times, Haynesworth sure leaves behind a lot of memorable highlights. In the “horrible aching pain in the gall bladder” sense of memorable. Before we say good-bye one final time, let’s take a quick look back.
